The Dark Side of the Moon je osmé studiové album anglické skupiny Pink Floyd, vydáno bylo v březnu 1973. Jedná se o komerčně nejúspěšnější album kapely, celosvětově se jej prodalo přibližně 50 milionů kopií, což z něj činí druhé nejprodávanější album v historii hudby.[1] V americkém žebříčku Billboard 200 se udrželo celkem 741 týdnů (tj. přes 14 let; na prvním místě ale strávilo pouze jeden týden),[2] což je rekord, který žádná jiná hudební deska nepřekonala. V britském žebříčku se na vrchol nikdy nedostalo, umístilo se nejvýše na druhé příčce.[3]

The Dark Side of the Moon je nihilistické a pesimistické koncepční album, které se zabývá problémy současného života, jako jsou peníze, chamtivost, války, ale i samota, lidský strach či plynoucí čas, který nejde zastavit. Koncepci vytvořil a všechny texty napsal baskytarista skupiny Roger Waters, po hudební stránce se na albu podíleli všichni členové Pink Floyd.

The record builds on ideas explored in Pink Floyd's earlier recordings and performances, while omitting the extended instrumentals that characterised the band's earlier work. The group employed multitrack recording, tape loops, and analogue synthesisers, including experimentation with the EMS VCS 3 and a Synthi A. Engineer Alan Parsons was responsible for many of the sonic aspects and the recruitment of singer Clare Torry, who appears on "The Great Gig in the Sky".

The Dark Side of the Moon explores themes such as conflict, greed, time, death and mental illness. Snippets from interviews with the band's road crew are featured alongside philosophical quotations. The sleeve, which depicts a prism spectrum, was designed by Storm Thorgerson in response to keyboardist Richard Wright's request for a "simple and bold" design which would represent the band's lighting and the album's themes. The album was promoted with two singles: "Money" and "Us and Them".

The Dark Side of the Moon is among the most critically acclaimed records in history, and is often featured in professional listings of the greatest albums of all time.
